Justine Vandergrift has been writing songs since she was 15. She grew up with many musical influences that continue to surface in her music including hymns, Canadian folk songs and her Dad’s diverse record collection from the 70’s and 80’s. Her witty and insightful lyrics coupled with her passionate one-of-a-kind voice make Justine stand out long after any performance. Solo or with a band, her performance is strong, melodic and has been known to bring on a few tears. She has released 2 full length albums since 2011 and produced a various artist’s Christmas album in 2013.In 2011, Vandergrift released her full album ‘Yes Alright Ok’ which received excellent reviews as well as airtime on CBC Radio, CKUA, and international stations. Not long after the release, Justine was awarded a recording grant from UP 97.7/Rawlco Radio and went on to release “So Far…” in June 2012. Both albums were recorded at Sound Extractor studios in Edmonton.Recently Justine was an ‘artist on-board’ the VIA rail Canadian line that goes from Vancouver to Toronto. Her and her partner Dennis Bouwman played for the passengers on the train, in the stations and played shows in Toronto and Vancouver. Currently based in Edmonton, Justine does as many musical things as she can including songwriting workshops, teaching guitar lessons and performing. You can often find her playing at the Salisbury Farmers Market, The 104 Street City Market and in the Edmonton International Airport. She plans to release her third album in the spring of 2015.“Occasionally a new artist emerges that immediately demands respect and attention. Justine Vandergrift is one such artist. She will make a solid impact on anyone who has the privilege of hearing her songs.”
-Bill Bourne (Juno awarding Canadian Folk Artist)“Justine’s songs are all so beautifully crafted. So much music today feels lazy. But these songs are so thoughtful and clear and perfect. Crafted without being constrained.  Each song is like a beautifully wrapped gift.”
